There are a number of charming little places in Ljubljana where you can relax and enjoy a good glass of wine. 1. EVINO
It’s a bar and a wine store with its own cellar, keeping the wine in perfect conditions at all times. The place has a pleasant ambient with relaxed and elegant interior decor. They offer a selection of over 500 different bottled wines, 20 of which are always available by the glass. The staff are trained to offer professional advice and will help you with any questions you may have. The bar also contains a heated indoor terrace, making it possible for you to enjoy a smoke without having to go outside. Evino is located at Šmartinska c., close to the BTC business and trade centre in Ljubljana. Opening hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 23:00, 9:00 to 24:00 on Fridays and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays.
2. DVORNI BAR
Is a bar and a restaurant offering a large selection of wines by the glass, along with two daily lunch menus and tasty snacks. They are placed in one of the most vibrant parts of central Ljubljana, with an excellent view of the castle from the front terrace. There are booths inside the bar offering a more secluded atmosphere. Occasionally, they host events such as wine promotions and travelogues. They also accept reservations for larger groups and offer the entire place for rent, should you be interested in organising your own private event. The bar’s address is Dvorni trg 2. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00 and from 9:00 to 24:00 on Sundays and holidays.
3. MOVIA
Is a boutique winery right next to Ljubljana’s Town Hall. The owner of the place is the house of Movia, the estate of which grows some of the best Slovenian wines. It’s located on the hills of the coastal Primorska region, measuring 22 hectares in size and offering a unique Mediterranean terroir, excellent for vine growth. Their winery in Ljubljana offers a wide selection of Slovenian wines from the same region, as well as wines from the Vipava valley, Štajerska, Istra and Karst. The producers include some of the biggest names of the Slovenian wine industry. If you’re looking for a place to try the finest local wines you should definitely pay them a visit. Their address is Mestni trg 2, Ljubljana. Opening hours are Monday through Saturday from 12:00 to 24:00.
4. BALTHAZAR THE WINE STORE
Another boutique wine store in Ljubljana’s town centre. It offers one of the widest selections of local and foreign wines at an affordable price. Their list includes some of the most notable Slovenian producers from the Primorska, Dolenjska and Bela Krajina regions. They also sell ecologically produced local foods. These include cheese, salami, honey, marmalade, flour, vinegar and other culinary treats. In addition to that, they also sell home-brewed spirits (schnapps) and liqueurs. Their address is Stari trg 28. Opening hours are Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 22:00 and Saturdays from 9:00 to 16:00.
5. VINERIA DEL PONTE
A winery near the Cobblers bridge in Ljubljana, offering a selection of over 400 different labels. Not as exclusively Slovenian as the rest but still very much worth your visit. Especially if you’d like to try some Italian wines as well. A nice addition to the whole package is a unique souvenir and homemade pasta, which are also available at the store. They accept reservations for private parties and events. Their address is Stari trg 2. Opening hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 to 21:00 and from 9:00 to 19:00 on Sundays.
